Fun Attractions in Palmdale

Palmdale, California is a great location for a relaxing stay with friends and family. The local restaurants and hotels also make for a professional environment for business meetings and conferences. If you like to see a lot of different cities on any given vacation, you’ll be happy to know that Palmdale is only an hour from the city of Los Angeles, an hour and a half from the beautiful California shore, and a mere two hours from the amazing wine country of Santa Barbara.
According to Wikipedia, Palmdale has been among the top 25 fastest growing cities for over two decades. As a growing city with a mini downtown area and small-town charm, it is family-oriented and lacks major highway distractions. If you plan on staying in this town, Palmdale has many things to offer.
Whether you are planning an extended stay, or just a weekend at one of the best Antelope Valley hotels, make sure you visit at least one of the following attractions during your trip.
The Devil’s Punchbowl, a sandstone formation at 4,750 ft elevation is considered a miniature version of the Grand Canyon. This natural preserve contains a state park and plays host to many different plants and animals. Most of the animals here are nocturnal and rarely seen. Hiking trails that reach to the Andreas Fault are abundant, and there are viewings of all the meteor showers of each year. This makes for a great day trip with the family, or a romantic night for just two.
Remember “Two Gun Bill” from the silent film era? William S. Hart played the famous cowboy decades ago, and now his 260-acre ranch is open to the public. He donated the ranch to the state and it is now called “Hart Park.” It is a great way to spend an afternoon in Palmdale.
Through the summer months, Dry Town Water Park is open for your pleasure and refreshment. It is operated by the city, and remains running from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day every summer. With swimming pools, a lazy river, and water slides, this park is a great way to stay cool in the summer.
